Equine Centered Enrichment for Autism:
Our instructor are trained and certified in The Horse Boy Method
First we provide an environment in which autism families (and those with related neuro-psychiatric conditions) can find respite from man-made and industrial stimuli – which are known triggers for chronic episodes, seizures and tantrums. Once the child (or young adult) has relaxed into this environment we then introduce the horse.
We start with sensory work in which the child lies body to body with the horse in various positions that calm the nervous system. Then we begin the ridden work. In Horse Boy Method certified instructors ride in the same saddle with the child sitting in front of the instructor and use a mixture of the horse’s rhythms and rapid response prompting to gain communication.

The Stable Place partners with residential rehabilitation facilities, day treatment, to provide both horsemanship, and EAGALA equine experiences.
Through lessons and other activities, Equine Centered Enrichment participants learn about horse behavior and psychology, horseback riding, and horse care and management. By interacting with an equine partner in a way that emphasizes core human values, participants not only gain knowledge about horses but also develop life skills in the following domains:
The size, movement, and multi-channel communication that horses provide often reaches people in ways that traditional human-centered learning methods sometimes cannot. Equine Centered Enrichment participants interact with horses in a relational, experiential learning context through being with them in groundwork and on them as partners. As ECE participants engage in controlled and safe activities with their equine partners, they experience not only growth of "self" but also increased awareness of "other": cornerstones of success and relationship growth.
